Annual Boiler Cleaning in Southern NH

The Cleaning You Skip in September Is the No-Heat Call in January

An oil boiler needs a cleaning every year. No exceptions. Jolt Electric & HVAC cleans and services boilers across Southern New Hampshire on oil, gas, and electric systems, and most of the no-heat calls we run on oil in deep winter belong to boilers that skipped a visit back in the fall. We're veteran-owned with over 30 years on this equipment, and our technicians are licensed and insured.

Soot insulates. Every millimeter of buildup on the heat exchanger is efficiency you already paid for and are no longer getting.

What's Included in the Annual Visit

  • Full burner teardown and cleaning
  • Nozzle and electrode replacement on oil systems
  • Heat exchanger and flueway brushing
  • Combustion testing with a printed readout
  • Chimney base and flue pipe inspection
  • Fuel filter and strainer replacement
  • Circulator, zone valve, and aquastat check
  • Expansion tank and relief valve verification
  • Every safety control on the unit tested
  • A written record of the before and after readings

You get the numbers, not a sticker on the jacket.

Why Soot Costs You Money

A clean oil boiler transfers heat from the flame into the water. A dirty one sends part of that heat up the chimney instead. The nozzle wears and changes spray pattern, the electrodes drift, and combustion efficiency slides a few points every season. Skip two years running and the loss stops being small. On a house burning 700 gallons a winter, several points of efficiency is real money going out the flue.

What the Numbers Actually Show

We test combustion before we touch anything, then again when we're done, and you see both readings. A boiler that came in reading in the mid-70s and leaves at 84% just got you a measurable return on the visit. If it comes in clean and leaves clean, we tell you that too and you've bought a safety inspection instead. Either outcome is worth knowing, and neither is a guess.

Oil Boilers Need This Yearly

Oil fouls in a way gas does not. Combustion leaves deposits, the fuel train wears, and a tank that ran low pulls sludge into the line and loads the filter. A yearly visit resets all of it. This is the highest-return maintenance item on an oil-heated house, and it's the one most often skipped.

Gas Boilers Need the Safety Inspection

Gas systems foul more slowly, so the efficiency argument is weaker. The safety argument isn't. A cracked heat exchanger is invisible until somebody looks at it, and looking is the whole point of the visit. We inspect the exchanger, the venting, and every safety control regardless of fuel.

When to Schedule

Late summer through October, before the first hard cold snap. Once the temperature drops our schedule fills with no-heat calls and routine visits get pushed. Booking early gets you a faster appointment and leaves room to handle anything the inspection turns up while the heat is still optional.

What Skipping the Cleaning Costs

  • Higher fuel bills every month the system runs dirty
  • Shorter equipment life, sometimes by years
  • Voided manufacturer warranty on parts you'd otherwise get free
  • Emergency service rates instead of scheduled ones
  • Carbon monoxide risk from an uninspected heat exchanger

Commercial Boiler Maintenance

We maintain commercial boilers for property managers and business owners across the region, including multi-zone and multi-boiler plants. Commercial equipment runs longer hours in dirtier conditions, so semiannual service usually beats a single annual visit. We build the schedule around your occupancy and your budget cycle, and we keep the documentation your insurer or your tenants may ask for.

Why Choose Jolt for Annual Service

Three decades on this equipment in these towns means we've already worked on most of what's sitting in these basements. We're not the biggest contractor in the region and we don't try to be the cheapest. We do the full teardown, take the readings, and tell you what we found. Our 5-star reviews come from people who got a straight answer.

If the cleaning turns up something structural, we'll quote the fix or price a new boiler and let you choose. If you also heat with a furnace, pair this with furnace tune-ups and handle both in one fall. Ask about the 603 program if you'd rather your system flag a problem before you notice it.
