We size on a real heat loss calculation, not on what was there before. Square footage, insulation, window count and orientation, and the condition of the distribution piping all feed the number. We remove and dispose of the old unit, set and pipe the new one, wire the controls and zoning, commission the burner with a combustion analyzer, and walk you through running it. You get the printed readout.

How do I know whether to repair or replace?
Two numbers decide it. Combustion efficiency after a proper cleaning tells you what the unit can still do, and physical condition of the block tells you how long it will keep doing it. A boiler holding 82% with a sound block is worth keeping. One reading in the low 70s with rust weeping at a seam is finished. A replacement is also the moment to add proper zoning, outdoor reset controls, and an indirect tank for domestic hot water.
